2011 Be Active Cycle Instead Tour De Perth

EVENT INFORMATION
The Tour de Perth is Western Australia’s premier road cycling event. First run in 2000, the Tour de Perth is back on the calendar in 2011 with the support of naming rights partner Healthway, aiming to promote the message to ‘Be Active Cycle Instead’. The 2011 Be Active Cycle Instead Tour de Perth will provide something for everyone, from families participating in the Amy Gillett Foundation Community Ride to elite cyclists fighting to be crowned the Be Active Cycle Instead Tour de Perth champion.

The Shire of Kalamunda has come on board as the event host and will provide a spectacular location for this three day road cycling tour. The Be Active Cycle Instead Tour de Perth will take place on Friday 25th, Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th of November. Cyclists and spectators will be able to enjoy the beautiful surrounds of the Perth Hills in Kalamunda boasting its native bushland, orchards, vineyards and delightful views of the city and rolling hills.

There will be three stages to the tour;

Friday 25th November - Night Criterium Series
-
Saturday 26th November - Road Race
-
Sunday 27th November - Time Trial
The three stages of the event will all include the same start finish line which will be on Williams Street adjacent to the Zig Zag Cultural Centre in the heart of Kalamunda. There will also be an event expo village located near by the start finish line outside the Kalamunda Library on Williams Street that will act as a central hub for spectators and riders to enjoy.
The Be Active Cycle Instead Tour de Perth commences on Friday 25th November with a series of Criterium Races into the evening. On Saturday morning the event will continue with graded Road Races for Men and Women in Elite, Support & Masters categories taking riders through the hills of the Shire of Kalamunda.
Sunday will see the final day of the Be Active Cycle Instead Tour de Perth start with the Amy Gillett Foundation Community Ride at 8:00am. These participants will have the opportunity to ride from the start line on Williams Street out to the top of the Zig Zag where riders can take in the stunning views of the city before returning to cycling central. They will also be able to look over what will be the Time Trial course for race competitors who will commence racing from Maida Vale reserve at 10:30am.
The expo village will be open on Saturday and Sunday. A closing ceremony and crowning of the Tour De Perth Champion will take place in the afternoon on Sunday as the weekend comes to a close. The 2011 Be Active Cycle Instead Tour de Perth will attract hundreds of competitors across all grades and thousands of spectators and Community Ride participants.
